Impressions of Hideaway at Royalton Negril Jamaica

Hideaway at Royalton Negril is the last reincarnation of at a time famous Grand Lido. The property was acquired by Royalton group and completely remodeled. The closest international airport is Montego Bay from where it’s about one hour drive to Negril on a decent road. The hotel does not have a private suite in an airport arrival hall and does not provide a private transfer, but transportation was arranged by a tour operator, whose representative met us upon arrival and dispatched to a car quickly.
Situated at the end of the Bloody Bay – the best beach in Negril and probably all Jamaica this large property is divided into sections according to the clientele taste from Family to Nude. Hideaway is Adult only section, and the top in the property as its guests’ privileges allow access to all resort dining options. The hotel is all-inclusive, there are two restaurants exclusive to Hideaway guests, five accessible to all, a buffet, a sports bar, a fast food grill, a cafe and a “culinary experience” restaurant that features the chef menu and requires an extra payment if you want to dine there.
As there are several sections in the resort, there are several beaches as well. Hideaway’s own beach is small but private and has good snorkeling. There are also two bigger beaches – one is quiet, and another in the family section offers a lot of fun activities including two huge water slides.
The food options were generally good. The breakfast at the main buffet could have better service, but the food itself was very satisfying. With so many restaurants to choose from it was always difficult to decide where to lunch and dine, but at the end, we settled on one in the Grand Lido section that offered lobsters every night. As an alternative, the French restaurant in Hideaway (foi gras) was also excellent.
The overall impression was excellent, the well-deserved renovation drastically improved this property. For hassle-free no-worries, all-inclusive vacations Hideaway at Royalton Negril is the perfect choice.
